The GY-HM790E marks an evolution in camera recorder technology, offering the performance and connectivity to integrate with professional Studio to ENG or EFP applications while providing a range of expansion possibilities. Full recording compatibility with QuickTime™ MOV gives native support for Apple's Final Cut Pro™ editing system in both HD and SD mode, while recording XDCAM EX™ compatible MP4 files in HD mode and AVI files in SD mode offers seamless integration into other video production workflows.

As ever, stunning definition up to full HD is achieved with the high-performance Dynamic Digital Signal Processor. The proprietary MPEG2 codec delivers full HD 1920 x 1080 compression up to 35 Mbps while industry-standard SD recording is also made possible. The on-board twin SDHC card slots ensure seamless continuous shooting with automatic card switching, and the optional KA-MR100G can be used for simultaneous recording to high-speed SxS media. With the genlock input and simple wiring of the 68-pin multi-connector interface, a number of configurations are now possible, while existing 26-pin control cables can be used. Other key features include an interchangeable 14x HD lens from Canon, a three 1/3-inch progressive CCD design with Triplex Offset, uncompressed Linear PCM audio recording, a 16:9 high-resolution LCOS viewfinder, and a large 4.3-inch LCD monitor with easy-to-use GUI navigation.
